  • A minor pent. scale PDF for Module 1 Part 2-3DateSun Mar 24, 2019 2:06 pm

Classical guitarists regard positions by fret numbers.
Electric guitar uses the word position actually meaning PATTERN or SHAPE.
As the shapes are transposable they are movable up and dpwn the neck.

  • Jesse Ed DavisDateTue Mar 19, 2019 11:44 am
Forum post by pebberbrown. Topic: Jesse Ed Davis

In the 1960's I lived at 27 Hurricane Ave in Venice CA, and Jesse Ed lived across the street. BAck in the day those houses were very few and far between. On any given street from Anchorage to Zephyr ave. (Streets went north to south alphabetically, Anchorage, Buckaneer, Catmaran, Driftwood, Eastwind, Fleet, Galleon, Hurricane, Ironsides, Jib, Ketch, etc all the way down the alphabet with a weird alley way right after Quarterdeck st, that wasnt part of the scheme.... THERE THAT PROVES I LIVED THERE HA HA HA!!!!

As I said, the houses were spaced far apart from each other (the mega building and expansion of Marina del Rey had not occurred yet, (but it was on the horizon and coming on STRONG! real Estate developers were all freaking out and foaming at the mouth.) and the houses had like 2 VACANT LOTS between each of them - all SAND LOTS since they were at the beach. So my street ad a vacant lot on the corner, my house, a vacant lot then another vacant lot and then Speedway Ave (North South) then you were RIGHT ON THE BEACH. Across the street wa a vacant lot, THEN Jesse Ed's house nexto to it, THEN 2 vacant lots before Speedway and the beach.

So Hurricane ave only had about 3 houses on it until about 1967 when the gradual development of condos started to happen. I tell you all this because this only meant one thing - all of the ACTION on my street was over at Jesse Ed's house! I went over there EVERY DAY after school and always in the summer. So yeah he was my MAIN guitar man back back in the day (2x).

Here is a photo of Jesse Ed's album cover and you can see it was taken in the vacant lot next to his house! [[File:2L-04768a.jpg|none|auto]]

  • Thoughts on my plucking?DateMon Mar 19, 2018 1:01 pm

You have to work it your timing a lot. Slow the shit down and get it right before you try increasing the speed
you have to set aside a lot of work to do this as you have already been practicing with ingrained timing problems. You really have to take some time out and fix it! Go slow slow slow with QUARTER NOTES one note per click. ONE NOTE PER CLICK! Then you can increase clicks very gradually up to 200bpm - over a couple months - TRY IT!

Thanks for posting this - try for even tighter tighter tighter movement. Shrink down how far your hand and wrist travel to where it looks like its standing still - thats the goal of all this! Great work!

The guitar will teach you if you map out all the notes/scales and chords. Voice leading done in a visual manner then applied to physical playing. Take a diminished scale and map it out all over the neck. Can you do that? Then from the diminished scale map out the playable chords. Then for vpice leading you can take any note of a diminished chord anlower it a half step and it becomes the root of a Dom 7th chord which is V7 chord in major, melodic minor an harmonic minor. If you take any root of a dim 7th chord and raise it a halfstep it becomes the b7 of a mi7b5 chord which is the vii chord in a major or harmonic minor key or a vi and vii in melodic minor key. So for each dim chord there are 4 adjacent dom7 chords and 4 adjacent mi7b5 chords and then the diminished chord repeats every 3 frets so you can them map out 12 Dom 7th chord sand 12 mi7b5 chords within a 3 fret space before repeating inversions. The guitar will teach you all that if you map it out on your own. Then you have to practice what you mapped out. This is what the meaning of that statement means.

All you guys are a bunch of fucking wimp dog pussies!

I took lessons from all the Masters - they all give you materials to practice.
And expected you to put in the time. I used to practice 10-11 hours a day.
Buckethead regularly practiced 14 hours a day. You cant handle 2hrs?
You will always forever be mediocre and suck at guitar.
