great video timing seems good upto sevens. just slow down the metronome. sound is kind of scratchy too, maybe you have the pick tilted on the side too much. sarod action looks ok allways hard to tell on video. just a matter of building strength to keep it going nice though keep it up.
you are right about the practice time all the greats. would of at some time spent upto 14-16 hours a day at some point when i first started i was doing six hours just picking the 3-4 hours a day on left hand. most people dont have that sort of time so spread out what you do but. but dont jump from one thing to another. master one exercise before you move on... also pebber talks about saving time by focusing on your weak points ie 4th finger. hey there's no rush.. i'm sure pebber will get back to you on the dvd..
also got to say play every day.. i've had a 3 week break wish i had'nt hands are so stiff again...
not sure i would recommend that ray i would keep to spending same amount of time on left and right. in all modules. will say when you been working on this stuff for a while the left hand is harder to keep the same level if you have a break.
think anyone who has put serious time in will feel some tiredness aches somewhere.. i had this for quite a while would just spend all night on left hand while right recovers and vice versa .. if the pain dont go away go see a specialist ...
Its never to early to practice picking. get the scalpal picking down. left hand spiders ladders trills. lookup basic theory, string names, tuning, notes on neck, octaves. basic chords then 5 position system lern major scale system. learn some songs of course. welcome to the forum
you wanna be starting on getting your picking down and strengthening. and loosening that left hand. pebber is a great teacher but he can only give you the tools you need, gotta work your arse off to get real good. give it a shot you wont go wrong here...welcome
welcome to the forum a lot of people go from acoustic to electric, have trouble with muting. why not throw a video up of you doing a few drills so we can have a look,...
ok so your timing sucks. so slow it right down get the metronome down to 40-50 bpm. work one string. one note per beat until your hitting right on it make that metronome disappear. then start working 2 3 4 notes per beat no need to change the metronome speed. work it for a long while. same with pentatonic practice one note per beat really slow this is where you build accurate timing it can seem boring , but switch off that part of your brain that wants to move quick and work it. dont be tempted to speed up until you can nail it.
But hey this is just my opinion Pebber or Ursin may be able to give you better advice. they are the guru's here ok keep at it buddy oh and curve that pinky...
yea try finding another teacher who for free puts all pdf's up, that must of took years to compile, Including his syllabus, which you could work through, along with the modules sheet for free, if you know where to look. subscribing is the way though. so you receive regular organized videos and can get feedback. on your progress.
also never ever giving you the hard sell or upgrading spiel, just genuine blood and guts hard bloody practice. with years of knowledge. I for one am a life student. thanks Pebber
14 position system is amazing for moving around, and the scale-tone form system takes it too a new level. i have mapped it out and the string set and string-group possibilities are massive i am now working my way through them should only take the next 20 years lol. but hey what else am i gonna do.
Has you amp got a reverb or sustain, turn this off and play clean you need to not use your left hand start getting your right hand to mute start really slow pebber has a video on youtube about muting i'm sure maybe post a video of whats happening.
love it farelli as i mentioned in another thread try planting your first to fingers when doing 3/4. adds more difficulty. remember to stop if any pain occurs though. nice work
Looks good ray right hand looks nice and loose nice scalpel action, nice curved fingers on the left hand too. try keeping the finger you are not using (ladders) planted on the fretboard adds another degree of difficulty. don't hurt yourself though.
I get emails from Tom Hess all the time. generally based around signing up. parting with cash. you have to ask yourself if someone is giving you that much hard-sell, its normally bullshit.
But hey he has his own ways everyone to their own hey!!
Welcome yes you will be fine here, Pebber has some great Basics videos on youtube on learning beginner chords. Its never to early to start picking and left hand practice and maybe start running through the 5 position system which can be downloaded from this site. also justin guitar is a great beginner site also.
Nice curve of the pinky finger (when not using) looks a little stiff but to be expected if only just starting out( spiders, ladders, trills ) will sort that just lift the neck up and tighten the strap. for a more comfortable postion.
Original poster give it a go i changed my picking couple of years ago best thing i ever did totally changed my playing
And to shredmaster Whatever you think of Nicks playing he has posting plenty of videos for people to critic
we await your video showing us the path we should be taking. maybe you have a better way well cmon don't keep us in the dark. get a video up of your own picking style.
