Daily Practice Plan/ Routine time?

What's up all,

i recently printed the Daily Practice Plan/Routine sheet for guitar. I was just wondering if anyone can tell me how long should i practice each exercise? Do i work on module 1 for a week/month/ months until i master it then module 2 and so forth? Or should i do 3 exercises from each module? Any information is greatly appreciated, thanks.

I Want to take online lessons from Mr. Pebber Brown

Hello,
I am from a small town in India and i am having a hard time finding a teacher.I want to take online lessons from PB as i believe he is the best.I want to know from fellow members here If any one is taking lessons from PB online.
My question is are the lessons systematic because i am a complete beginner, I dont even know how to hold a guitar and I want lessons from the very grass root levels all the way upto shredding like a pro ;) and i want lessons in systematic order like lesson one then lesson two instead of lessons given to me in a random order(lesson 1 then lesson 15 then lesson 3 etc) like its on youtube,if u know wht i mean

CAGED Pattern #2 Question

Hi all. I'm a rookie to guitar and playing music in general. About 6 months ago I bought a new electric guitar (Mexican Strat if it's of any concern), and have been teaching myself via YouTube and a couple books I bought from Amazon (Fretboard Theory and Monster Scales and Modes). I've been practicing scales almost exclusively (Major scale and Minor Pentatonic) every day. I'm really trying to learn the the entire CAGED system. I have a few questions:

1. Why do some people teach a different Pattern #2 (G major scale) than others? Pebber teaches Pattern #2 beginning on fret #2 or #3? (same as Pattern #1?), where some sources (take Fretboard Logic and Monster Scales for example) teach it beginning on fret#5... and they are completely different patterns... Is one correct and another incorrect? One better than another?

2. How do I name a major scale? In other words, Once I know the 5 patterns (which I thought I did), How do I know where to start, and what to name it? Not starting on the root throws me off I think, and I'm trying to form a connection between the patterns and notes.

3. I'm very interested in theory. Is there a book you might recommend that is tailored to beginning guitar players?

I've been following Pebber's You Tube videos for almost the entire 6 months I have been playing. I'm sure I've watched well over 100 hours...I love the no B.S. attitude and understand that it takes a ton of time and practice to get good. I'm 38, single, and have no kids, so time to practice is pretty much all I have.

I love music and I always have. For the past decade or so, I have really been in to new school reggae (Slightly Stoopid, John Brown's Body, and Stick Figure to name a few favorites). I'm also a huge fan of Phish, Rush, Floyd, Chili Peppers, Pearl Jam, Satriani, Johnson,... But mostly interested in reggae these days. Any advice on where to go and what I should learn is greatly appreciated. Thanks for taking the time to read my post, happy to be a part of the forum!

I wanted to introduce myself

Good morning, my name is Richard Murphy and I'm from Augusta Georgia and I'm writing this morning just to introduce myself and to let everyone know that I am a super new beginner to the guitar. I've been a huge music fan from the time I heard my first 45 my folks would play ..... A bit of everything is my taste.
Allot of my friends played and I never had the stick to it ness to work for something that I've always wanted to do, but at the tender age of 43 I know i am ready. I also know from the simple picking exercises that its not going to be a piece of cake and that's ok. I'm starting from scratch and there's nothing bad going to happen other than I'm going to learn.
I really just wanted to say good morning and that I'm glad I landed in a great place to learn.

Holding a plectrum

Hey can anyone help me out? I want to know more about using a plectrum, I can't seem to shake some old habits and I also wanted to know if anyone thinks it is a good idea to practice multiple ways of holding it or just to use one way. I like Robben Ford and try as I might, picking up the way he holds the pick is so difficult. I know Robben was an accomplished player from a young age but that still doesn't stop me wanting to emulate his style.

Learning about guitars

I purchased several weeks ago an Epiphone Les Paul Traditional Classic Pro which I took back a few days ago and got hit with a charge and only have store credit now. Anyway, that's beside the point. I am borrowing a Squire to practice with. I love practice and what Pebber has laid out for us. I notice Pebber uses a Tele a lot on the videos. I am a novice at this time and would like some feedback. Oh yeah, this is my first post and I would like to say hi to the other members. Thanks.

Differents postures of the left hand on electric guitar, please help me !

Hello Guys, I started to see Pebber Brown's videos on youtube few weeks ago,and I realized that he has a video when he explain to the young guitarists to play with your left hand posture like the classical guitar, well, I am a begginer of this wonderful world of popular music in electric guitar, what is the difference between some styles?, I mean,If you are an slide or blues guitarist , play some fast lick in blues and need to bend some string, most of these musicians play bends with the thumb throughout the back of the mastil or neck , in others I saw that when is a Metal guitarist most of these people play with the left hand posture like the classical guitar and still make bends with the same left hand posture.Please, I really appreciate is someone in this forum can help me to understand, What is the correct posture of the left hand on electric guitar?

picking ?

i have my own question about picking ,im self taught so im sure i,v developed some bad habits and i,v been wondering for some time ,i think my picking technique is ok alternate speedpicking string skiping ...any way my question ,i hold my pick with my index and middle fingers ...is that something i should try to change i.v been playing a long time and being self taught i can only imagine what level iwould be at if i was instructed .holding my pick with just my index and thumb feels so alien butbif i can improve by relearning something this simple i,ll do it ?advice???

Im new to this forum was considering sighning up for lessons but i dont have a scanner ,and pb seems like a hard ass but thats why i like him ! is the scanner nesecary ?

Alternate picking issues

Hy folks, and Merry Christmas to all of you.
Anyway, I wanted to ask if someone could help me with my problem. I started playing in 1993 (I was 13 year old back then). I am playing as a right-handed guitarists do, though I am lefty, however only in writing...other stuff I do as a right-handed. So when I started playing guitar, I didn't even think about it, parents bought me a guitar for right-handed and I started learning that way. My music idols were never too demanding in a sense of picking...Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, Rolling Stones, Beatles, Joe Cocker and so on...the most demanding stuff I listened (and still do) were Dire straits...but it is mostly played on hammer-on + pull off style of Mark Knopfler...so again no picking. However lately I decided I wanted to improve my picking, and for last 4-5 months I was well...picking with spider exercises...I am sure you all know what I am talking about, right...However, the results are somewhat visible...from 85bpms I am at 98 right now, and 100 only after hours of warming up. At the same time with my left hand I can alternate pick faster without any exercise at all...But I just cant seem to move forward right now...I am stuck at that speed. Now, I am aware of possible solutions but to narrow the comments I will say this: I do think of thickness of pick, about an angle to keep pick towards strings, I think of economy of my movement (right and left hand both), and watch that I do not make unnecessary moves...I take care of tension in my arms, try to eliminate it...I did practice (and do so every day) with metronome, starting from slow (80bpms damn it...cant go slower...I mean, I can but what for)....so I pretty much covered all you-tube advices on picking, and results are weak. I even spoke with some academic musicians who told me that progress should be seen after 3 months of daily routines, however, I practice picking (and nothing else) for several hours every day for 5 months now, but it seems to me progress is waaaaaay to slow...does anyone have any advice on this?
There is also something else I struggle with and it is tremor in my hands...it is not that visible when I am home, however on gigs that tremor gets nasty...I can barely pour myself a drink and my hands feel like I was carrying tons of weight so they are "heavy"...I realized an alcohol helps but my intention is not to become an alcohol addict but decent guitar player hahahah.
Anyway I am not interested in over-speeding such as 200bpms....I don't listen to such music usually and in music that I create, write, or play I need no such speed... However 130-150 bpms is something I look up for...so...any I welcome any advice...these days I will try to post video of my technique, as soon as a find out how these things function on this blog.

picking

Hi all,
My first post.
Scalpel picking: How do you reverse the angle of the pick? It seems when you hold it , it has only 1 angle, that is the narrow part toward the strings.
