Really? I've been spending all this time trying to use my fingers exclusively (well, there's some muscles in the hand itself working too.)

Doing more trills trying to keep the fingers curled pretty hard to be honest. Kinda sloppy but ill keep at it.

Awesome stuff, Mat. You know, I would advise learning an actual piece of music over technique any day. I mean, what are the benefits to learning a Jeff Beck song note for note and being able to play along? Sure, your tremolo picking might not be as fast but, hey... you would know a Jeff Beck song note for note...

Keep on jamming out what you love, brother. Nothing wrong with it, and you sound great!

Ok...So I my objective is to channels my sarod pickings technique into something that is reminesque of the photo from belows...I know I will get there sooner or later if I keep practicing....But I wonder what sort of thoughts people here might have on what the shortest path (basically a straight line) between where I am with this stuff now...and how i eventually would like it to sound/be structured....

It would improve your guitar playing more to do Scott's picking challenge from Pebber's daily practice module

Nick; go do the challenge. Just try it, I bet you have fun.

As far as a jam goes, I would say this is the best thing I've heard you post since your Bark at The Moon cover. It could be a lot better, though.

Why not try the challenge as well as this jam, and repost both in a week's time to see what impact the challenge has on your playing? Can't hurt...

Oh hey, here's something I thought you might find cool.

That picture is of an Ibanez Universe I gave Shawn, him opening it up at at a gig. He had no guitar at the time and needed one, so I sent it. He was a heck of a nice guy, and a monster musician who loved all music. Country, Jazz, metal, classical, whatever. Really into soundtrack music... Oh yeah, absolute phenom at piano, too...

Started working on another cover. Still a ways to go, but I think I'm at a point where I'd like to read your feedback. Got this tone with a POD HD, but the whammy effect isn't great (to my ears), so I tried to avoid using it as much as possible. Thanks!

Instead of reading this you should be practicing. Slowly. With a metronome.
