Yngwie, Zappa, Vai, Van Halen, McLaughlin, Holdsworth, Shawn Lane, John Abercrombie. When I want to listen to killer guitar players that's usually what I listen to. Sadly, I personally don't see many new guys that I'm as crazy about like I am about those guys.

carlos santana, vai, satriani, john petrucci, angus young, ronny jordan, paul gilbert, mark knopfler.. are just a few mostly 70s, 80s guitarists

i've been listening to carlos vamos lately.i have to mention the guy who inspired me to pick up the guitar in the first place Meic stevens

I also really like James Byrd. There were 3 guys who came out in the 90's that I really liked...Shawn Lane, Brian Carroll, and James Byrd. Byrd is lesser known but worth investigating.

There are many more guitarists that I've either forgot to list or don't have the time to do so. These are the guitarists that I always listen to pretty much every day.

... And I would like to mention Ed Bickert as well. He's one of the smoothest players ever to pick up the guitar. Oops, I think Lenny breau should be added to the list. Tim Lerch is another one....

Of course I'd add Pebber to my list and, most of the guys who study with Pebber are usually among the more interesting players like Frakh, Bucket, etc

I left off quite a few. Always loved Al Di Meola. Paco de Lucia. I like Paul Gilbert. I like Greg Howe. I like Blackmore, Uli Roth, Hendrix

I don't like a lot of the newer players because I feel they either start with Yngwie and forget about all the guys who came before or they all sound too generic and contrived.

I like 500 pound gorilla hit you over the head and beat you into submission guitar playing. I like the wrong notes and guys who aren't afraid to play the wrong notes. We've heard all the right notes already.

Then there is this guy I only discovered not too long ago Ewan Dobson
