You guys DONT EVEN know about this one!!!
This is one of the ULTIMATE 7/4 solos of all!!
Tommy Bolin/Jan Hammer/Michael Walden 1975
I used to listen to this 8 times a day every day after school!!!!
If anyone heard it they went out immediately and bought it!

The song starts in 4/4 but the solos are all in the
fusion time that was popular in the 70's of alternating
4/4 +7/4

This is the best of the best!
Tommy Bolin - "Marching Powder"

This is the same drummer - Narada Michael Walden - this time not with Tommy Bolin or Jeff beck or Jan Hammer but here is playing with the mighty one - John McLaughlin - -and if you guys stick it out listen to the timing of the drumming behind McLaughlin's soloing. The song starts in 10/8 or 5/4 time then the solos go into 20/8 or 10/4 time. Its a trademark Mahavishnu timing.
WE used to call it "Six and two-thirds time" its 3 bars of 6 and one bar of 2 = 20/8 time. This was single handedly by far and above the one solo that made me who I am today and it was absolutley my most inspiring guitar solo I have ever heard to this day.
McLaughlin and WALDEN man. The SHIT.
Mahavishnu Orchestra - Lila's Dance (1974)

Heres WALDEN with Jeff Beck/Jan Hammer - Led Boots (1976)
The majority of the Song and Jeff's solo are in 4/4 but Jan Hammer's solo is in 7/4.
Stupid video sorry - tape a piece of paper on your screen for a few minutes and just listen.
Jan Hammer starts the 7/4 time soloing at 2:48.

There are Musical Ideas here, which I have NEVER heard in my life, Pebber! I definitely give you credit for expanding my Musical Horizons, because it is so wonderful to see where Big B and Shawn Lane got THEIR ideas from!

This reminds me of the first time I heard Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, etc., and realized what an influence they were on Rock.
