This guy is one of my all time favorite musicians...So far I have learned his piano concerto opus 2 (based loosly off john petruccis transcription) his C# minor nocturne on piano (back a 18 months ago-ish when I was afraid for my carpals, I took a temporary hiatus from guitar and used that piece as my crash course into the world of technical piano pieces...But I have been listening to alot of Chopin lately...Plus I have found his left hand piano stuff to be a great way to get my feet wet as far as chord focused guitar playing is concerned...

Yeah I love chopin too, I think youre totally right he used so much intresting chords, yet often simple progressions which I(we) as a rock Guitarist can apply well to my playing, only issue is the transcribing from piano to guitar without making a backing track (or 8 finger tapping on a 7+String) Guitar is very difficult, indeed the feel is so hard to copy on an electric guitar

I would encourage you to spend more time trying to make the guitar sound like other intruments...Thats what thats what Mr. Holdsworth did and he is amaqzing.

Like This?

Or maybe like this?

Or like this?

Or I guess it should just be strictly guitar...

I haven't gotten around to posting any Chopin vids, but maybe I will if I get some time. I suppose I could post some vids using just a telecaster and the volume and tone pots, but there's other guys who do it better than me...

Here, maybe watch this one all the way through... There's a thing or two to be learned. Covers playing guitar pretty completely. No effects, just guitar, amp and talent. No trying to blow people's mind with theory, he just mans up and uses his guitar amp, fingers and them funny things on the side of your ears. Danny Gatton = Guitar Monster. Nice guy, and an undisputed master of the instrument.

And to clarify; I am not trying to do anything other than present the great, great big world of guitar. Sorry to Hijack your thread Nich, but sometimes a picture/vid is worth a thousand words! I wanted to illustrate that there are a lot of us out there that have been working on their own musical identity for years. There are soooo many players out there, each more mindblowing than the last. So much music, so little time.

It actually makes me sick to realize that I've never heard of Pebber until this year, and he is in his own right a unique and solid player as well. Yet I've known of buckethead since, like '89 (sorry not a fan of KFC hat guy...) What a world.

Potentialy showing Chopin to new sets of ears was wat I cared about and of importance to me, but the thread itself is not.

Wow really Nice Videos!
Yeah Nick if you think about it making the Guitar sound different is a big part of what its all about^^, youre right other Instruments can be such a good way to think differently and effects are also(just because you dont play them with your fingers doesnt change the fact that its sounding different), but like I said its very hard to copy a chopin feel on our beloved instrument :D

I am trying my hand at the op. 9 Bb minor nocturne here is shheets in case anyone else wants to have a little race with learning a chopin nocturne! I know there is interest in piano lurking in these forums and if you want to becomne the best you got to learn to play the Chopin...lucky the nocturnes arent as hard as the pollonaise....[Video]http://petrucci.mus.auth.gr/imglnks/usimg/6/61/IMSLP113996-PMLP02312-FChopin_Nocturnes__Op.9_BH4.pdf

here's Half of the C# minor Nocturne...I guess the past 8 months of Sarodic exclusivivity has come at a cost...I havent touched the piano and my hands feel retarded and fumbly....If only I could do sarod through chopin on piano then it would probably be ok.
