Just started out on the theory videos and the file B is not working. All the other files work so I don't think it's my phone. Could anyone go over what to work on for file B or help me get a workable copy? Byronbuchanan58@gmail.com - username.

The filename is "MusicTheory_for_GUITAR_vol.1B.mp4" and it was one of the downloads in Lesson 2. When I attempt to play it, Windows Media Player 12 (Win7 x64) returns: "Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file."

I've tried:
re-downloading it
renaming the file with different filename extensions allegedly compatible with WMP
playing it with QuickTime
downloading / playing under Linux

So, far I've been unable to play it.

VideoLAN plays about anything under Windows or Linux:
videolan.org

I've been using VLC media player(videolan) for years now, it's free to use. My stepdad who is quite good with computers told me about it and I haven't used anything else. The reason you are getting that message is because windows media player doesn't support the file type. After you install a program which does support the file you will have to right click the file and then click open with... and then choose the program.

I also use http://www.videolan.org/index.html and have never had a problem playing any of Pebber's videos.

Thanks to both you and MatGeorge for the recommendation on the VLC player. It is a useful alternative to have.

In this case, though, the actual .mP4 file that I received looks roached and doesn't play in anything that I've tried thus far. I brought the file up in a hex editor and the first 307 MB of it are all zeros with seemingly no mp4 header info that I can see.

yeah the video player i use on my phone plays the same file types as vlc i believe. A replacement file was sent. Much appreciated! Major scales... major scales!
