  • Just after my second-most-recent post,
I just decided fuck it, and just bought all the dvd's now.
I'll pay the extra postage for the new one when it comes out.

Now; where is the best place for me to buy your music, in order that the most $ go into your pocket?
I notice the CD on your site is on backorder.

In a couple months, I might just make a straight donation to "The Pebber Fund" [as I'll call it],
if I'm not as skint as I am now.
I've been going for broke this week, fucking my money away on books and stuff.

Do you have a paypal account where I can make a straight donation later when I think of it?
You've given me a lot, but I don't have a steady job currently in order to make a contribution.

  • and as a bit of a goofy aside,
I just wanted to repeat, as I will occasionally, thank you so much for your free lessons.
They have been improving my life greatly, not just in the area of guitar.
After listening to the vids over the past three or four months or so,
I'm slowly starting to feel it feed into other areas of my life.
The people around me are not conducive to improving, getting better at things, developing and growing,
and it's great to have your words and demonstrations and inspiration and your outlook to keep me focused and attentive.

Given another few months, when I have done work that is worth uploading, after "enough" practice,
I will show you my improvements in guitar.
I hope you are still doing this by then, but it doesn't matter.
I'll always remember your words, sensai! (:

  • Hey Pebber.
Any word on when your new DVD is out?
If it's going to be a few months, I'll just buy all the others now rather than waiting for the new one to combine shipping.
I just used the order form to calculate postage, and it's actually WAY way cheaper to post your DVD's to australia than I thought!
[based on other forum posts I thought it was gonna be pricey]
    $8 postage! Bargain Bargain Bargain!

Wow, I didn't know amazon takes 55% ? That's mercenary! You could look into offering it as a digital download through itunes then!
[or countless other distributors if you have some kind of prob with apple. I for one would like to welcome our new apple overlords, and love them like a father].

itunes take jack sh*t! They scrape a pittance off the top.
You have a stack of followers, lots of online attention.

I believe you have to go through an aggregator / middle man to get on itunes, but you may already have music on there and "know the ropes",
but perhaps you have not yet considered selling your paid lesson vids through there?

  • No worries! Good to know about the new DVD. Another one to combine postage with.

How much would postage for all 4 of your lesson DVD's be to Sydney City, Australia?
[and aprox. what time should I check back here to see if it is available? A month or two?]

I'm pretty sure they will all fit in a Large US$15 USPS Flat Rate Priority Mail envelope. [international]
I've had many things posted this way.

But perhaps you have a usual way of doing it?

Should I just go through the order page and see what happens?

  • Hey Pebber. I have a couple of questions related to international postage or [hopefully/preferably] paid digital downloads of your lesson dvd's in this thread.

Sorry, I didn't know how to PM you, you can delete this forum post if you want, just wanted to alert you.
Maybe you've been too busy to respond, and that's cool. I just posted it a while ago so I thought maybe I should chase you up (:

    Cheers.

    Thanks Komen!
I know from experience buying too much silly garbage on ebay that a USPS Flat Rate Priority Mail envelope is US$15 with no VAT to where I am, but I just have to hope Pebber ships this way.
I've never had trouble with this method, and received a great many deliveries this way, never had a problem, very reliable. I don't know if you can get things shipped this way to Europe as well, but it's a pretty inconspicuous envelope, maybe you can avoid such high fees this way in the future. The large envelope would easily accomodate 2 DVDs and most likely 3 [I've had Levis jeans posted to me in this way haha].

Ultimately, I will probably be ripping the DVDs to my computer anyway so I can put them on my ipad and take them around with me to study on-the-go, so a digi-download would also save me the bother of doing this [and as you say, to avoid shipping altogether].

I imagine Pebber could offer them as a paid download through Amazon. It would really bring costs down on both ends, and probably reach an even greater audience. I could foresee these lessons getting a big number of 5 star reviews on Amazon, and people taking notice when they search for things like "Guitar lessons" on amazon and this popping up.

For me, DVDs are an antiquated way of receiving media. I know they are still a "thing", and people like buying physical stuff. But a lot more people are going obviously going towards buying digital downloads.

    Thanks again for the info.

  • Noob help with scale practice please.DateWed Feb 27, 2013 1:50 am

BisleyBloke, you are trying to rally people against an incredibly great dude we are all devotees of to one degree or another, who gives away his knowledge for free, on a forum he created.

You are so choked-up with your own mind that you cannot reason with yourself to analyze and accept the mind-set and ideas of another.
If you had, you would have realized that it was better to pull your head in.
You did not even have the sense to be sneaky and quickly copy+paste the scales if you couldn't be bothered writing them out, you would rather assert yourself at every possible avenue.

People like yourself always remind me of this Zen Koan about The Professor and The Zen Master ; The Professor seeking advice and to learn about the Zen Master, but being too choked up with his own ideas to learn anything
    Read here:
    http://deoxy.org/koan/1

Nan-in, a Japanese Zen master during the Meiji era (1868-1912), received a university professor who came to inquire about Zen.

Nan-in served tea. He poured his visitor's cup full, and then kept on pouring.

The professor watched the overflow until he no longer could restrain himself. "It is overfull. No more will go in!"

"Like this cup," Nan-in said, "you are full of your own opinions and speculations. How can I show you Zen unless you first empty your cup?"

Hi Pebber! I'm wondering the exact same thing as the OP here.

I can only see 3 DVD's on your website.
I'd like to order as many of your dvd's as are available to save on postage.

[the Youtube lessons are perfectly sufficient, and will do me for years, but I kind of just want to give you my money! The amount of cash I'm saving on lessons if I had the money to take "real" lessons is huge, and I think you are probably a far better teacher than I will find where I am].

I would also very very much love a book of yours someday.

I know all the materials are for free on your website, but solidified in a book would be great one day.
I'd buy it from amazon in a heartbeat.

Also, do you post international? [I am in Australia]

I believe 3 DVDs could probably be sent in a US$15 large priority mail envelope, and of course there are other far more expensive methods, which I'm not big on.

Something else that might be an idea is to offer your dvds through amazon, not just in physical form [which ships very cheaply internationally], but also possibly as a digital download.
I know that's always a bit sketchy, as you may not want copies floating around on the web, but in that sense, if people wanted to rip the DVDs and upload them, they'd do it [I could if I wanted to, but I believe that would be scum].
I haven't even bothered to search for the old sneaky download since you have far and away won my money with all the freebies.

Digital Downloads also avoids the issue of "Region Codes" on DVDs, which you may not be aware of. DVDs from the US cannot be watched in most countries around the world [but then, it's mostly movie studios that region code movies: your DVDs may not be region-coded].

I'm slowly making my way through your youtube series now [I am "Helloagain151"], and only realized you had DVDs when you mentioned in one of the vids. It should be more prominent on your website I reckon, but that's an opinion, for what it's worth [nuthin, probably].

Thanks mate, I am a devotee. You are my Guitar Zen Buddha and your straight-forward "tough love" "matter-of-fact" style / approach fucking rules.

  • Hi Pebber :
My Q is pretty much as the title says :
I'm curious why some links are blacked out on the PDF lessons D/L page and PB books page?

Some chapters in your book "Lydian Chromatic Concept for Guitar" look very interesting but are blacked out.
Are the chapters that are blacked out , blacked out because they are just not finished?

Don't answer this if you don't get time ; always keen to see more of your videos
    You're a geeenyoos! (:

Pebber, it makes me sad you dignify their SHIT, even in the smallest way, by giving it any thought or consideration whatsoever.

I hope you can institute a strict-policy of just ignoring all the negative comments and the shit.

I know it can be difficult not to react, but the negative stupid stuff are not thoughtful words :
It is equivalent to just gibberish BLAHBLAH that superficially resembles the English language,
but which pushes nobody forward, and is no good for anybody.

Use the power of your amazing mind just to simply IGNORE and pass-over.

Stupid people tend to be the loudest and most vocal.
Many people who love your videos probably don't bother to comment,
they are too busy listening to you and practicing your lessons,
meaning their voices are outnumbered by the fools.
Such is the nature of the internet.

And the rest of us who love ya, and may speak up time to time,
will ultimately never be able to stem the loud torrents of blahblah and shit from the shit-apes.
So best your brain just scrambles the messages so they look like this --> laiHFAs;id;iASUDJ;LADHFASJHF.j,h;LASdhjlkdjsfhkdlfjho328679DJ
    and then move on
