Don't know anything about Audacity and for all I know it is a superior tool. Personally I've never found the notes/chords any use whatsoever however being able to slow down and loop isolated sections of a solo has made it much easier for me to learn solos by ear which is the way I have always done. Except I had to rewind a tape over and over at regular speed.

Yes. I recommend it. You can slow down and loop any sections of a solo you are trying to figure out. I paid $50.00 for it and has free upgrades for life. I'm sure there are others that may be better even. Hopefully if someone knows of any they will respond with their recommendations.

  • 5/7/12/14 Scale systems use ?DateSat Aug 22, 2015 10:33 am

    Hello Stephanie,

I suggest you get Pebbers free pdf. of the chromatic scale exercises utilizing all the finger permutations up and down the neck in every position. He also has a free video demonstrating many of these. They are great for teaching right and left hand coordination as well as training your fretting hand with all the different combinations of fingering.

And yes, huge thanks to PB!!

Thanks for the input John. Sorry for the late response. I use Transcribe! software for slowing down and isolating different sections Im working on. Extremely useful compared to the old rewinding of tape a million times. Yes Im old enough to remember tape. As far as protecting your ears: I ride the subway to and from work and despite loving music at least as much as anyone anywhere I do not put headphones on my ears and listen to music because you have to have the volume up very high to hear the music properly as the train is very loud when in motion. Needless to say there are many people who do who will have future hearing issues. Instead I put earplugs in to protect them. I don't know if this is practical or safe in your work environment but it's worth considering.

  • Ok thanks Ursin.

    Greetings All,

Pebber mentions at the end of Scale Sequences_1A 110 downloadable sequences from the Musicians Friend website. I suspect they are no longer available or i am not searching on that site correctly. Does anyone know where i could access this information?Thx
