This is a video that I found on youtube. He says he's imitating a Takayoshi Ohmura's picking form.

This is video from Takayoshi himself. I can see he's moving his wrist but also his thumb too. His guitar sounds pretty powerful even though he's using his thumb.

How do you guys specify these picking styles???

First video
Anchored scalpel
He moves at a sort of 45 degree but still ridged.

Second video
a loose form of scalpel...instead of an in out type of thumb pointer movement he is using an idea perpendicular to the way scalpel picking is taught....but his grip is loose! Soooo...he incorps both..plus a loose wrist as well. I FIcUsed around with this idea especially to solve a problem with my thumb locking up all the time and came up with a couple of solutions...(to MY problem). Take a look again....BACK to Mr. Malmsteen....this guy is getting similar to his technique.....but Mr. M uses a circular motion..very loose.

Thats what I see

No Sarod

I tell you guys Sarod is the answer!!
These guys will not keep up with you.....EVER

Another video of his...maybe shows more of that perpendicular movement I was talking about.

Good player!

He is from Japan? What are they putting in water over there???
It seems more and more players are spawning from Japan these days.....

Would you explain the 'perpendicular' movement more specifically?

I'm guessing he picks more than 45 degree...

Instead of an in-out...straight movement with the scalpel picking(search Pebbers videos on the exact movement)....the movement I am seeing is perpendicular to the scalpel technique....
If one were to see say...Yngwie...you would see a circular movement with picking. It looks like an off shoot of Mr. Malmsteen's technique. But the perpendicular movement is more pronounced when I see his(the guys) video.
