Soooo...
Has Sarod changed your playing yet?
Do you practice Sarod(pure), Scalpel(pure), and then the Hybrid(Sarod/Scalpel) by themselves???
How about warm ups and drills?
Any problems?
Any discoveries???????????????????????
Well...its been about a year but I have picked up where I left off and asked Pebber If I could address this topic...soo...Ill be trying to show what has worked for me as well as some ideas to explore.
If you are already good at the technique, and even if your not, throw a video up. It would be interesting to compare hand angles...pick angles..ect.
Videos to come....getting back into synch.....:)

Thank you for the videos sir.
I have a sarod picking concern. I understand the concept. I'm pretty sure I understand the motion. What leaves me confused is the speed. In the videos I've seen of both Pebber and yourself, it seems like sarod is a code word for "ABOUT TO PLAY REALLY FREAKING FAST."
Is doing it quickly a fundamental part of the technique? I'm assuming it's a matter of long-term practice, but sarod picking at 1/4th the pace of my regular picking, which isn't breaking any speed records in the first place feels... wrong enough that I should ask a question about it.
HHmmmm.....
Think of the speed part as an attribute of the technique....its like taking out your old pinto transmition from your car and putting a 6 speed ultra quick shift racing transmission in its place. The speed is one of those unfortunate qualities of Sarod. Whats also an unfortunate characteristic is its endurance...hours...and hours can be consumed by this technique with little or no fatigue. :)
THATS an amazing quality for any technique!
I have noticed a threshold....
You are right to a certain point that Sarod is a leap into warp drive...and to play slow is actually a chore. Thats where practicing slowly comes into play...BUT...more importantly...other techniques! Scalpel picking. Thats where scalpel picking takes over for me....
The goal.....
To mesh them together into an effortless....seamless transition...
Scalpel(pure), Sarod(pure), and then the hybrid.
Im not even mentioning other techniques to try...like chicken pickin...a possible answer for high speed sequences??????
It probably feels wrong at slower speeds because...hhmmm....maybe the forearm isnt strengthened yet...try to practice picking harder at slower speeds...just for the practice of it. The technique is all balance...so maybe when played slower....that balance feels awkward. I had felt that as well but still practice at slower speeds just so I can get that down.
Hope that helps....

Thanks for these videos FRaKh Ive only just been checking them out the past few days Im always busy with pebbers daily practice routine trills, spider ex, ladders, x pattern, timing exercises & scalpel picking etc.
One thing I wanted to ask from your last video is what are coils ? they seem similar to some paul gilbert exercises Ive recently started.
Im hoping Ive not missed something on pebbers videos I dont remember them being mentioned.
Is there a PDF for coils I cant find find one.
Im sure I will pick up what you mean the more I watch the videos just thought Id ask Im gona start putting your ideas into my daily practice.

Sarod stuff like that such a breeze..
Of course Paul has his own unique approach to it, he is an awesome guy and guitarist and one can learn from everyone, but what i want to say is Pebber you're a hell of a teacher.
