I believe Uderoche once recommended a sweaty sock that he had just worn all day but I may be misquoting him.

Love the way the Berklee grad plays. Think I have been playing too stiff and hitting the strings too hard want to try to play like him thanks for the video. McLaughlin is from another planet entirely awesome!

In my minds eye I would see a basic tensegrity structure surrounded by a circle of fifths both moving like a gyroscopic lotus flower! I thought I was mad!!! Thanks Pebber for helping me think of music in a new way.

I wonder if Fuller's concept of tensegrity (floating compression) could be applied to music or music theory.

Early Van Halen is tuned to Eb. According to Guthrie Govan it was because Eddie would tune off of the bass player before they had a keyboardist.

Planet Waves makes something called the Varigrip. It is great for warming up and you can carry in your pocket to practice ladders and trills during the day when you have free time. Mine cost $12.00.

  • Question about online lessonsDateThu Jan 17, 2013 5:47 am

It will take years to master the first videos! There are videos on youtube where PB talks about this. Also check out Frakh and Usirin in this forum for some really good advice on time management. This method takes a lot of discipline so you should download the free modules from youtube and see if you can stick to it, and after it sinks in a little bit maybe order some dvds and subscribe. You will improve over time but you have to put in the ground work. The only thing that can stop you is lack of discipline!

  • Question about online lessonsDateWed Jan 16, 2013 5:30 pm

I also highly recommend. The videos and the dvds are helping so much, but you have to remember that the variable in the equation is you. If you do not commit yourself 100% then nothing will happen, but if you put the effort in you will improve. I love getting the videos every month too keep them coming!

very good! reminds me of Michael Hedges. I think you have to be careful using the guitar like a drum because too much can take away from the melody. Why is it that there are so many great British guitarists. Must be something in the water.

Forum post by chacal. Topic: Advice on where to start?

I am a beginner also with about the same amount of practice time available. If you go to Pebber's channel on You Tube and watch "MODULE 1 PRACTICAL" Parts 1-a, 1-b, 2, 3, 4, and 5. I think it is an excellent primer for the daily routine because you practice along as if you were in a real lesson. Here is the link to 1a. Good Luck and stick with it because it works.

The guitar is the only thing I can think of that when you buy it there is no instruction manual provided. I think thatt Pebber's videos are this missing manual and should be put in with every new guitar sold because they are the best thing I have found for understanding and training to play guitar! Rock on Pebber! Thanks for everthing

  • Picking Techniques DVD - Vol 3DateMon Aug 20, 2012 7:14 pm

  • Picking Techniques DVD - Vol.1.V2DateThu Aug 09, 2012 6:53 pm

I have the picking exercises dvd and love it. My technique and strength are improving every week. When I get a little more confidence I will post a video. I have only really been playing 6 months. My father was a jazz clarinetist in New Orleans ,and always encouraged me to play. He even bought me my first guitar when I was fifteen which I still own and play. My father passed two years ago and I am learning to play in memory and honor of him. It doesn't hurt that I love the sound of the guitar either. Any way listening to Pebber reminds me of him and for the first time I am starting to make some sense of the guitar. Thanks Pebber and put me down for the new dvds as soon as they arrive. Sunny Whaley
